Apidura

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Apidura is a sports equipment company headquartered in London.[1][2][3]It produces on road and off-road bicycling accessories, used in bikepacking and ultra-distance cycle racing.[4][5][6]

The company makes light weight bike bags (“packs”) designed to attach to road and mountain bikes on long-distance and self-supported rides.[7] Used materials are brought in from a variety of sources including the UK and South Korea, but the majority of the technical manufacturing is carried out in specialist workshops in China.

Collaborations[edit]

The company supplies equipment for athletes such as Kristof Allegaert, Bjorn Lenhard and the late Mike Hall, in return for data and feedback on its products.

In 2016, the company collaborated with Rapha on a series of bags.[8][9][10]

Apidura has also helped to sponsor community initiatives within the cycling world such as The Adventure Syndicate,[11] an initiative set up to encourage more women to cycle, and the Transcontinental Race.[12]

In 2018, Apidura set up Dotwatcher.cc, a centralised hub that covers major bikepacking races.[13]

History[edit]

The company was founded by Tori Fahey and Pierre Coeffe in 2013,[14] after Fahey had cycled across Africa and raced the Tour Divide, seeking an alternative to the rack and pannier set up traditionally favoured by long-distance cyclists.[15]
