Apollonivka (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.) is a village in Solone settlement hromada, Dnipro Raion, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukraine. Its population was 1,430 as of 2021.[1]

Geography

Apollonivka is situated on the right bank of the Mokra Sura River. The Trytuzna River flows into the Mokra Sura about 500 metres (1,600 ft) upstream from the village. The village of Vyshneve lies 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) further upstream. On the left bank, about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) away, is the settlement of Nadiivka and the railway station Pryvilne. The hromada centre, the rural settlement of Solone, is 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) away. The Template:Highway-road road passes through the village, connecting the Kryvyi Rih–Dnipro highway (Template:Highway-road) and the Zaporizhzhia–Dnipro highway (Template:Highway-road).

History

Historical documents from the mid-18th century held in the Dnipropetrovsk State Archive already mention the village under the name Apollonivka. During the existence of the Zaporozhian Sich (early 16th century – 1775), Cossack winter quarters stood on the territory of the village, where elderly Cossacks lived and engaged in cattle breeding and fishing.

In October 1859, the village and its lands belonged to Maria Apollonivna Zamytska. The village was renamed Apollonivka in honour of her father. At the beginning of the 20th century, the provincial zemstvo commission granted the peasants of Apollonivka 286.9 desiatin[convert: unknown unit] of land, of which 5.2 desiatin[convert: unknown unit] were arable. There were 345 peasants, but land was allocated to only 65 individuals.

Before the Second World War, a children's labour colony for minors and orphans (DTVK) was located on the site of the present-day Solonian Correctional Colony No. 21. During the war, the children were evacuated, and the colony served as a hospital – first for wounded Soviet soldiers during the retreat, then for German forces.

In 1945, the DTVK was restored, training specialists in agricultural professions (drivers, tractor drivers, combine operators). By 1961, the problem of child homelessness had been largely overcome, and in 1961, following a joint decision of the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR, the Solonian Correctional Colony No. 21 was established on the basis of the DTVK.
