Appboxo
Appboxo is a Series-A technology start-up headquartered in Singapore, backed by tier-1 VCs such as: Founders Fund, 500 Startups, Plug and Play and Antler[1]. It is a platform where mini-apps can be instantly launched in other apps and is redefining the e-commerce experience across Southeast Asia and India, raising the standard for how companies of all sizes sell their products and services both online and offline.
2019: Founded Appboxo was established in 2019 by co-founders Kaniyet Rayev and Nursultan Keneshbekov. Both had previously established a London-based travel app called [Mitty]. Kaniyet had initially thought of building an all-in-one travel app but [found it difficult to integrate third-party services]. Together with Nursultan, they eventually found a workaround by developing an app that allows developers to create mini-apps as a plug-and-play solution.
The Goal: Appboxo aims to remove the limitations of mini-app ecosystems by allowing companies to create super apps that can integrate any type of app into their platform. Their vision is to enable any app to become a super app and offer multiple services via the platform. It provides integration software that allows users to launch mini-apps within other native super apps - platforms which offer various services under one umbrella.
Host Apps: Appboxo currently works with about 10 host apps[2], including Booking.com, Klook, Zalora, and Airalo to be host/super apps and around 80 mini-apps to be integrated into these host apps. Most of the mini-apps are mobile wallets and travel apps, allowing users to do transactions such as bookings or payments faster and easier especially when using Zalora or Booking.com.
Fundings: Appboxo announced that it raised $1.4m (US$1.1m) during its seed funding round[3]. The funding round was led by 500 Durians, Plug and Play Ventures, Antler, and FF APAC Scout.
