Aprimo

Aprimo provides enterprise software and solutions for marketing automation. It was founded in 1998 in Indianapolis by William Godfrey and Robert McLaughlin.[1] [2] Aprimo was purchased in late 2010 by Teradata Corp., which later sold it to Marlin Equity Partners in 2016. [3] It now functions as an independent company based in Chicago.[4]

History

Aprimo was founded as a marketing operations software firm in 1998 in Indianapolis by William Godfrey and Robert McLaughlin.[5] It began as privately held company, gaining financial backing from several rounds of venture capital funding. In 2007, it filed a S-1 statement to go public, but in 2008 withdrew the IPO plan.[6] In December 2010, Aprimo was purchased by Teradata for $550 million.[7] In 2016, Teradata sold Aprimo to private investment firm Marlin Equity Partners for $90 million.[8]

It then merged Aprimo with another of its new acquisitions, Revenew Inc., which provided through-channel and distributed marketing software, and announced the integrated company would headquarters based in Chicago.[9] John Stammen, who had previously served as CEO at Revenew, was brought on as CEO of Aprimo.[10] In 2017, Aprimo acquired Ghent, Belgium-based ADAM Software, which offers Digital Asset Management software, for an undisclosed amount, to round out its marketing software.[11]

Aprimo now has multiple global offices, including locations in Chicago, Indianapolis, London, and Ghent.

Technology

Aprimo's original marketing solutions were all on-premise but it began making them available via a Software as a Service offering over the Microsoft Azure Cloud platform.[12] After it acquired ADAM in 2017, it also moved its new Digital Asset Management software, to a cloud platform.[13]
