Arab socialism

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Arab socialism is a political ideology that combines socialist economic principles with Arab nationalism and Pan-Arabism. It developed primarily during the 20th century, particularly in the context of anti-colonial movements and the struggle for independence across the Arab world. Arab socialism generally advocates economic independence, social equality, land reform, nationalisation of major industries and Arab unity. It is associated with several political movements, particularly Ba'athism and Nasserism. Unlike orthodox Marxism, Arab socialism places particular emphasis on Arab national identity and has historically rejected certain aspects of Marxist philosophy.
