Arabella Constance Elizabeth Baring, Countess von Nesselrode-Reichenstein (born 15th June 1989), is an English entrepreneur and socialite.[1]

Early life and family[edit]

The Honourable Arabella Baring was born on 15 June 1989 to Francis Baring, 6th Baron Northbrook, and Amelia Sarah Elizabeth Taylor. She is a member of the British noble Baring family. Her parents divorced in 2005. Her mother remarried to Andrew Christie-Miller in 2017. In 2013 her father remarried to Charlotte Pike, the publisher and editor of the Almanach de Gotha. She was educated at Heathfield School in Ascot, where she studied History, French, Spanish and Latin.

Career[edit]

Polo[edit]

As a teenager, Baring trained under Selby Williamson, former Captain of the National South Africa Polo team, and Pepe Riglos, a member of the Argentine Novillo-Astrada polo dynasty. Baring began competing in regional and national UK polo tournaments, and in 2009 won the Rendell division Audi Pony Club Polo Championships at Cowdray Park Polo Club.[2]

Finance[edit]

Baring worked in Investor Relations at CD Capital Asset Management for 4 years, where the AUM grew from £100 million to just under £1 billion.[3][4] She also worked in Tax at Deloitte and Amazon.

Skincare[edit]

In February 2021 Baring announced an skincare project she created called Children of Earth Skincare. She was influenced by her new transition into motherhood and time spent learning about the healing power of plants at her family estate during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Together with a team formerly at Pai Skincare, Dr Dennis Gross, Kypris Beauty and Wildsmith Skin, she began experimenting in her Hampshire workshop with botanic ingredients and oils with different effects on the skin and mind, which lead to the creation of Children of Earth Skincare. She co-developed packaging made of mycelium mushroom with the Dutch company Grown.Bio, in a bid to provide the beauty industry with an easy solution to switch to fully compostable packaging. Baring collaborated with Thea Løvstad, a Norwegian eco-artist, who has previously worked with Chanel, Jacquemus and Joseph, to photograph the products and the surrounding Hampshire estate where they are made.[5] Working closely with the Soil Association, the range has received acclaim from Harrods Magazine[6] and numerous beauty and lifestyle bloggers.

Sustainable Fashion[edit]

In 2021, Baring co-founded with the fashion rental platform Babu Clothing Alice Horlick and Georgie Lombard when they realised how many items of clothing children went through in their first 4 years of life. Babu Clothing has been featured in fashion industry magazine CWB,[7] Vogue and Absolutely Mama Magazine,[8] and in 2022 won the Marie Claire Sustainability award,[9] notably through its work with Xetrov.[10] In 2022 she addressed students at the Fashion Retail Academy on how to build a sustainable fashion business via a rental platform, and has co-hosted sustainable children's fashion events at the Arts Club, Dover St, Cloud Twelve Club and Beach Blanket Babylon in conjunction with the childrenswear designers Tartine et Chocolat, Caramel, and RaspberryPlum.

Personal life[edit]

Baring married Bertram von Nesselrode-Reichenstein in 2016 at St Mary's Undercroft, Palace of Westminster with a reception at the Turf club, Carlton Terrace, followed by an event at her family's estate in Hampshire. Her wedding dress, designed by Berta Bridal, was handmade for the occasion in Israel. Berta was recognized by The New York Times as one of the main bridal designers who caused a big shift in the bridal fashion world to a more sexy and bold style of dresses,[11] and was covered by some of the top influencing bridal magazines and blogs such as Theknot,[12] BRIDES,[13] Style me pretty,[14] Vogue,[15][16] and Wedding chicks.[17] Baring and her husband live in London and Hampshire.

Baring has been noted for her commitment to sustainable, circular fashion and emerging designers. In 2022 she wore Colombian designer Bianca Mar to the opening of IKKS Store in Carnaby St, London.[18] and her wardrobe is frequently rented via the Hurr platform.

She gave birth to a son, Francis Alfred Otto Hubertus, on 16 February, 2020.
