Arabian Publishing

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Arabian Publishing Ltd was established in 2002 by William Facey as an editorially independent niche publisher focusing on the Arabian Peninsula countries and related regions and topics. It was based in Bloomsbury, central London, until 2015, when it was acquired by Medina Publishing Ltd.

The aim remains to produce books researched, edited, designed and produced to the highest standards to appeal to scholars and general readers. In cases where a subsidy is necessary, it is made clear to the sponsor that no editorial rights are thereby conferred.

A number of Arabian Publishing books have been landmarks in publishing in Arabia and the Gulf states. Sons of Sindbad: The Photographs, published in association with the National Maritime Museum, was a Sunday Times Photographic Book of the Year in 2009. The spectacular Sea of Pearls, by Robert A. Carter, is the most definitive history yet of pearling and the pearl trade of the Gulf. The British relationship with Islam is explored in depth in reprints of the historic travelogues by Joseph Pitts, Eldon Rutter and Lady Evelyn Cobbold. Other titles cover traditional culture, political history, early photography, maritime history, and Arabian exploration, the most recent being William Facey’s Charles Huber: France’s Greatest Arabian Explorer.
