The Arena Football Federation is a newly-created professional arena football league based in Austin, Texas. It was formed on July 28, 2015, as an effort to begin a new rivalry with the Arena Football League. The league was formed to "help build a community through sports". Former New Orleans Saints quarterback and af2 head coach John Fourcade and former Austin Wranglers player Tacoma Fontaine are members of the board of directors. [1]

Ten cities have already announced, according to the league's official website, their intentions of joining the new league. Some who currently host AFL franchises, which a move to the AFF would be similar to what three af2/AFL teams (the Green Bay Blizzard, Tri-Cities Fever and Iowa Barnstormers) did by moving to the Indoor Football League. The first actual franchise to join the AFF are the Austin Armadillos. However, a few AFL teams are rumored to join as well, but nothing can be substantiated.
