Ari Honarvar
Ari Honarvar (a.k.a. Arasteh Honarvar) is an Iranian American writer, visual artist, performer and activist. She is author and illustrator of Rumi's Gift oracle cards with Carmen Costello (Schiffer Publishing) and the novel, A Girl Called Rumi, forthcoming in 2021 (Forest Avenue Press). Her articles have appeared in publications such as Parents, Teen Vogue, The Guardian, Yes! Magazine, and Vice.
Ari is founder of Rumi with a View, an organization dedicated to building music and poetry bridges across war-torn and conflict-ridden borders. Sample projects include "Drop Poems Not Bombs," an effort to connect Americas and Iranians during rising tensions between the two countries. For the project, American musicians set a verse of Rumi's poetry (in Farsi) to music. Another project, "Dancing with Refugees" is a collaboration with Musical Ambassadors of Peace, and involves bringing music and dance to asylum seekers in California and Mexico.
