Ariade Lee (阿里亚尼·李), she was the daughter of the Chinese Major General Pao-tang Lee,[1] who was the personnel general of the 13th KMT Army General Command (Shenyang Military Region).
She was the only female colonel in the Kuomintang Army during the Chinese Civil War.[2][3]
Biography
She was born in 1918. Her father was Pao-tang Lee, son of the Chinese ambassador to the Soviet Union Li Baotang. He would meet his future wife while he was studying in the Soviet Union, who was Russian.[4]
She would join the National Revolutionary Army at the request of her father, serving in his division, 13th KMT Army General Command. After the victory against Japan she, due to her Russian lineage, would serve as the link between the National Revolutionary Army and the Red Army in Manchuria.[5]
