Games
Fairly Nude initially received great attention for having a provocative artstyle and explicit language. The game combines a persian color palette with Norwegian nude art as well as the creators own humour. After the initial attention to the game it has become regarded as an expression of human perseverance in the face of adversity, as seen in the symbolic value of a nude character fighting through an extremely hostile environment, yet maintaining a strong sense of humour despite the circumstances. Numerous let’s plays and reviews can be found on numerous gaming platforms.
Blast Tournament, Behfars second game is a 2D shooter where the player must defeat enemies with numerous abilities. What makes Blast Tournament unique and ground breaking are the creative game mechanics. Whereas in most games bullets are obliterated when facing a challenge, in Blast Tournament they only pounce back into the arena, to either haunt or assist the player. Additionally the levels of the game become increasingly hard to the point of impossibility at the last tier.
Coupled with the 70s, arcade, style, Blast Tournament is alleged to be a commentary on how the economic relations of the West have seemed from an Iranian perspective. Similiarly to the unpredictability of the newfound abilities, and increasing bullets in the arena, the Iranian economy has reached ups and downs with very little tact or reason, from the perspective of its inhabitants.
Born in Norway, yet raised in Iran and the UAE Behfar’s work draws from an Iranian and Scandinavian artstyle. Aside from game development Behfar dabbles in MMA and other various styles of martial arts. He has also stated that one of his greatest passsions is cooking. In particular Japanese cuisine. Behfar has one sibling.
