Ariane Van Dievoet
Ariane van Dievoet (born in 1987 or 1988)[1] is a Belgian designer and founder of the product design company AVANDI (/ɑːvændɪ/; or Avandi Studio[2]).
Biography[edit]
Ariane Van Dievoet was born in 1987 or 1988 in Belgium.[1][3] She graduated from the University of the Arts London's interior and spatial design program in 2010.[3] She worked for the Belgian designer Charles Kaisin.[1] After graduation, she received an offer to do interior design for a Brussels-based jewellery gallery.[3] At that time, Van Dievoet already had chosen to attend the Rhode Island School of Design's postgraduate interior architecture program, which she completed in 2013.[3] Upon graduating from RISD, she joined Bower, a Brooklyn furniture design company.[3] In 2014, she put forward her designs to Salone Satellite, a secondary show at the Milan Furniture Fair, and her work was chosen for displaying.[3] Her "Stepstool" work, which was conceived for smaller kitchens, received the Salone Satellite Award's third prize.[3] She started the design firm Avandi after her designs were exhibited at SaloneSatelite.[1]
Avandi[edit]
Ariane van Dievoet founded[4][5] the minimalist product design[6] studio AVANDI in Red Hook, in 2014 after she earned degrees from the Chelsea College of Arts[3][7] and the Rhode Island School of Design,[1][2][4][5]. That same year, AVANDI's first collection was officially launched at the 2014 SaloneSatellite, the young artists' exhibit of the Milan Furniture Fair, where it received the 3rd prize of the SaloneSatellite award[3][7] for its Steptool, a minimalist kitchen ladder.[8] After being based in Brooklyn for five years, Avandi relocated to Brussels.[9][10][8] It received the 2019 Elle Decoration Uptown Design Award for its exhibition and capsule collection Reflected Matter,[11] in collaboration with bespoke interior brand Obumex.[12] Avandi has had exhibitions in Brussels, Cologne, London, Miami, New York, Paris and Toronto.[13]
