Ariel
Ariel is the alter ego of Portia van de Braam - a dancer, actress and musician.
Ariel is a story teller here to inspire through electro-folk and dance, using the timeless words of William Shakespeare.
In her debut EP 'Ariel Suite' she is the voice of human and ecological oppression. The lyrics come from both Ariel and Caliban from Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'. The characters and their circumstances combined explore elements of the human condition, haunted by the ever present rhetoric of Prospero with his “white man’s burden”.
