Arina Avram (born 4 June 1961) is a Romanian writer. Arina, whose works contain aspects of genres realism and mystery, is known especially for novels such as Dincolo de timp, dincolo de cuprins., 2020, based upon personal experience and historical events, and Coincidența ca număr de aur, 2014. She enjoyed great success thanks to the encyclopedias "Famous Women", 2001, 2005, prefaced by Neagu Djuvara, laureate of the French Academy, and "Encyclopedia of Wisdom", 2010.

Personal life

Arina was born in Târgu Jiu, România, the daughter of Elena, Romanian language teacher, and Gheorghe Ioniță, engineer. She graduated from the prestigious Frații Buzești National College of Craiova, Politehnica University of Bucharest, and University of Bucharest.

Career

In 1967 Arina worked as journalist for the newspapers Evenimentul zilei, where she debuted under the guidance of literary critic George Pruteanu, Cotidianul, National, Adevărul, Click, the newspaper with the largest circulation in Romania. She collaborated at Radio Cultural, a public broadcasting station. A writer with complex activity, Arina Avram tackled almost all literary genres, from novels, short prose, poetry, children's books, but she also published non-fiction works and translated a famous novel from English. She stood out especially thanks to the novel Dinclo de timp, dincolo de cuprins (Beyond time, beyond content), a book that depicts pages from the present, but also from the past about wars and the most horrible Nazi camp in history, a novel that enjoyed success in two editions, and also thanks the novel Coincidența ca număr de aur (Coincidence as a gold number), published by the All publishing house (Allfa), and to the encyclopedias Femei celebre (Famous women), proposed by readers for the top of the best books published in the 25 years of existence of the All publishing house, Femei celebre din România (Famous women from Romania), Mari minuni, mari mistere (Great miracles, great mysteries) and Enciclopedia înțelepciunii (Encyclopedia of wisdom). The novel Coincidența ca număr de aur (Coincidence as a golden number) was well liked by critics especially for its philosophical depth, but also for the way in which the author realistically explains the action and, last but not least, for the magic of the narrative . The books that have enjoyed the greatest success, being quoted in scientific works and school textbooks, are Femei celebre (Famous Women), Femei celebre din România, (Famous Women from Romania), and Enciclopedia înțelepciunii (Enciclopedia of Wisdom). The encyclopedia Marile orașe ale lumii Great cities of the world was presented using impressive words by the writer Horia Gârbea, who categorized it as a work that combines a considerable amount of information with the expressive exposition of the points of attraction of each settlement. The encyclopedia Mari minuni, mari mistere (Great Wonders, Great Mysteries), also sold in Japan, has been described by the press as an individual survival manual designed to teach us the secrets and miracles of a world to which we can be more than mere spectators. The novel Coincidența ca număr de aur was translated into English. The novel Beyond Time Beyond Content was translated into Spanish. Arina Avram also published the volume of poems Why I'm Yours, even though I'm Not Yours in English, about which the literary critic Catherine Beeman from the USA had words of praise
