Arjundeep Singh Nagra
Arjundeep Singh Nagra MSc known as "Arj" (born 28 August 1993) is an English Rugby Union player who plays for South Leicester RFC, a national league club. Originally a No.8, his work with England Rugby coaches has made him a passionate tight head prop with ball handling skills that match wingers. Arj has also signed for Leicester Tigers and Leicester Lions. Arjundeep is also a fully qualified RICS Quantity Surveyor aiming to achieve MRICS credentials by 2025.
Nagra was first signed to Leicester Tigers in 2009 on a 2 year contract ending 2011. Arjundeep joined Northampton Saints for more Premiership Rugby experience and was sent away to work on his ball handling skills for 6 weeks. Arjundeep was never to return until 2018 when his former coach refused to take him back up. Arjundeep decided to focus on the lower leagues and build his way to success. Arjundeep focused on National League 2 (North) club Leicester Lions before making the crucial decision to take up an offer at South Leicester RFC to fill out his brother's shoes. It was his brother who recommended him to the club.
Early Life Arjundeep attended a private nursery where he learnt many skills about his self and how to act courteously. Before attending a Church of England Primary school, father, a Kenyan socialist and political reformist "J" Singh, now a Civil Servant for HM Government and mother Amarjit Kaur Nagra (previously 'Lachhar') decided that their son should pursue a sporting career. Amongst gymnastics, Arj attended swimming lessons, karate classes and had private tuition lessons for skills off the field. He would later complete his GCSEs at Judgemeadow Community College, A Levels at Beauchamp college, before attending University.
Arjundeep has always been a Labour Party supporter and highly regards Tony Blair's New Labour as innovative, technological and evidence of great management. Arjundeep wrote a highly critical proposal draft for PHD research at University of Leicester which was rejected, but as expert witness he was able to maintain its confidentiality. It reminiscence it was critical of the management of the Conservative Party avid Brexit.
Rugby Arj has played 87 games in his career so far. He regards 150 as his ultimate aim which may be a possibility given that he is aged 25. He started lifting weights at the age of 16 and read books of Arnold Schwarzenegger to focus on certain muscle areas. He still has this book and is willing to share Arnold's ideas with anyone who is willing to motivate their body for good.
Quantity Surveyor Arjundeep is aware that the profession is non existent in India and is more so in his Grandparents' native countries of Pakistan and India.
Mental Health Arjundeep was diagnosed with a condition called psychosis in 2017 and has received NHS counselling to open up about his issues. He highly recommends individuals who open up about their issues with neglect and abuse (emotional, physical, verbal).
