January 23, 2020 Tottenville’s High School soccer program not only acknowledged the 22-year-old Guarnera’s four-year career with the Pirates, Guarnera’s No. 21 will never be worn again at Tottenville H.S. It’s the school’s first retired number in soccer.

Cosimo "Armando" Guarnera (born 10 October 1997 in Brooklyn, NY) is a professional soccer player of Italian and American descent, currently on the 25 man roster as a professional soccer player for the New York Cosmos. The New York Cosmos is an American professional soccer club based in Uniondale,New York that plays in the National Independent Soccer Association/NISA). The club has previously competed in the National Premier Soccer League and North American Soccer League. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Cosmos_(2010) [1] [2] Armando was part of the Redbulls Youth Camp and was invited to train with the New York Redbulls USL & MLS team for six months in 2016, eventually witnessing their USL Cup victory that year.

Upon graduating in 2015 from Tottenville High School in Staten Island, NY he was the only graduate to be awarded "Outstanding Achievement in Athletics." [3][4] He helped the Tottenville Pirates win the 2012 SIHSSL soccer title.[5] All four years spent on the Tottenville Pirates squad, under Coach Ron Nathanson[6], were with Varsity and he served as Captain during his senior year. Armando ranked #1 in assists in Staten Island and #2 overall in the NYC area during the 2014 season. [7] He was voted by the Staten Island Advance for "All Star Player of the Year" as well as MVP.[8]

Viareggio Cup with LIAC New York U19[edit]

Armando played in the Viareggio Cup that took place in Tuscany, Italy in 2015 playing 36 minutes and then in 2017 he served as captain playing 256 minutes for all three matches as part of LIAC New York U19.

US Open Cup with New York Cosmos[edit]

In a play-in, qualification round game that took place on 7 May 2018, New York Cosmos fell to the Brooklyn Italians by a score of 3:2. [10][11]
