Armando Mendes is an international music producer, DJ, and musician originally from Oporto, Portugal.
Throughout his early DJ career, he played at clubs in Europe, Russia, Dubai, and Asia, performing with the likes of Robert Owens, Tensnake, Ben Pearce, and Gardens of God. After a summer stint at the W St Petersburg Hotel in 2015, he began a four-year residency at the W Barcelona. There, in Spain, he released a series of well-received singles as a producer-musician and an EP entitled Fame, in addition to creating several remixes for other artists.
In early 2019, he moved to Thailand, where he opened a music studio and label—and is also the current musical curator for the W Retreat Koh Samui.
In February 2020, he released his first full-length album, which incorporated contributions from a cast of international guest vocalists/lyricists including Robert Owens (Fingers Inc.), Jinadu 9 (Defected Records), and Ithaka.[1][2]
Early Life
Armando Mendes was raised in a family and social environment surrounded by music and art culture. From an early age, he started to play musical instruments and soon developed a specific affinity for the bass guitar and acoustic bass. His teenage years consisted largely of studio rehearsals and live performances.
In 2008, he relocated from Portugal to Barcelona to study electronic music production and audio engineering at SAE Institute in Barcelona. By 2010, he was producing his own musical compositions.[3]
