Armani Howard
Armani Howard (b. 1993) is an African-American Thai contemporary artist. Born and raised, and currently still residing in Chicago, Illinois, Howard received a bachelor's degree in painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, having started there in 2012, before graduating in 2016.[1] Howard primarily works with painting and drawing. His works contain themes of identity preservation, pop culture, escapism, mental health, self-discovery, and the loss of innocence.[2]
Howard takes his inspiration mostly from his experiences growing up on Chicago's South Side in the Roseland area[1], he would take some of the negative moments that he would witness and document them. This would lead to a kind of blueprint forming. This blueprint would create the groundwork for the visual work, the message, and direction that he would potentially take his artwork.[3]
Howard has had his work displayed in galleries all across the Chicago area.[1]
