History

Beginnings Of The Village (Unknown-3rd Century)

Arndorf first began as a farming village with many surrounding fields. The founder and first mayor was named Arndorf Schulte. It was originally part of the Alemani and Suebi people (modern-day Germany, Switzerland, and Austria). The people lived a peaceful life, with the Catholic spread under Pope Constantine being a major event in the early days of the village.

Medieval Era (3rd-8th Centuries)

In the 4th and 5th centuries, Arndorf was a bustling market town with many surrounding farms and impressive constructions, such as Adnana's Schloss, the palace of Princess Adnana (daughter of King Carol III), and Dorfeus Tower. The nearby village of Tulpenburg was more urbanized. Three wars were fought over control of the Blausee lake, as whoever controlled it controlled Ben's Island. The first king of Arndorf, King Carol I, wished to create a fort on the island, which was originally owned by Tulpenburg. This led to war. The first and second Blausee Wars were won by Tulpenburg, but under the leadership of General Bautzen, son of Princess Adnana, Arndorf won the third war. Tulpenburg then received significant aid from Munich, seized Adnana's Schloss, and took the princess hostage. Catapults were positioned on the hill. The war concluded with Arndorf taking the lake and island, and Tulpenburg taking the Schloss.

In 1953, the Gutezeiten period saw economic policy changes, boosting businesses, and reviving the famous Arndorfer Brauerei, founded in 1876.
