Arrey Bate Arrey is a Cameroonian journalist, author and entrepreneur.[1] Arrey Bate is the founder of ArreyB Media and chief initiator of AB Afrikpreneur Awards.[2][3][4] He is a GLC2021 member, and winner of the 2021 Oxford University’s Global Leadership Challenge.[5][6]

Early life and education[edit]

Arrey Bate was born to a Christian family. His father is a clergy and mother is a teacher. At the age of six he took part in his first athletic race organized by the Seme Beach Hotel. Arrey won his first athletic medal. Arrey attended Government High School Bonjongo where he obtained his Ordinary Level Certificate and later moved to Government High School Mamfe where he obtained his Advanced Level Certificate. He obtained a BSc in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Buea.[7]

Career[edit]

Arrey Bate started as a blogger. He later founded the AB Afrikpreneur Awards, a award body recognizing entrepreneurs and career starters across Africa. He served in various capacities for radio and print as a reporter and show host before setting up an independent online media in 2017.[8]

In 2019, Arrey was recognized as one of the top 100 journalist in the world by the British Council.[9][self-published source?] Arrey published a book titled "How To Make Money, Build Right Relationships with Social Media".[10] In 2018, he worked during the presidential elections in Cameroon with opposition leader Akere Muna.

In 2019. he was recognized as one of the top 100 young journalists in the world by the British Council. In 2021, he won the Oxford University's Global leadership Challenge.[11][12][13]
