Arsen Shakhunts (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.[1], born March 1, 1979, Mary, Turkmenistan) is a Turkmen singer, musician, and songwriter.[2][3]
Biography
Arsen Shakhunts was born on March 1, 1979, in the city of Mary, Turkmenistan.[4] Arsen has two brothers, Yevgeny and Alexander.[5][6]
He completed music school with an accordion specialization and studied clarinet for one year at a music college before leaving. Arsen Shakhunts spent 10 years playing digital piano in various bands.
In 1998, together with his elder brother Alexander Shakhunts, he moved to Ashgabat[7], where they founded the duet Brothers Shakhunts, performing songs in Russian, Armenian, Turkmen, Uzbek and Azerbaijani[4] languages.
Their song Golubka, recorded in 2008, gained significant popularity. The song was later performed by Russian singer Katya Lel and artists of oriental pop music.[8] In 2009, the song was performed at the Eh, Razgulyay! chanson festival, and in 2011, it was included in the soundtrack for the film The Practice of Beauty (2011).
Songs such as Golubka and Korablik have remained in rotation on Radio Shanson and Dorozhnoe Radio for many years.[9][10] Additionally, songs Golubka and Dim were part of the Top Radio Hits chart.[11]
In 2018, due to health-related circumstances, Alexander Shakhunts left the duet, and Arsen continued as a solo artist.
In the fall of 2019, Shakhunts released a music video for the song Devochka, stop!, which garnered over 185 million views on YouTube as of December 2024 and ranked 20th on the Top YouTube Hits chart.[12]
In early 2020, he released a new single, Goodbye, dosvidanya!, which gained over 32 million views by the end of 2024.
Arsen Shakhunts has participated in various prestigious festivals, including Pesnya goda 2023 (Russia), Song of the Year 2023 and 2024 in Armenia. He also took part in the musical marathons Eh, Razgulyay 2009 and 2022, both held in Russia, and performed at the international arts festival Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk 2023 (Belarus).[13][14]
In 2024, Arsen Shakhunts performed solo concerts in Turkmenistan[15], Uzbekistan[16], and different cities of Russia. [17][18]
Personal life
Arsen Shakhunts is married and has two daughters.
