Arshia N. Papari (born 2003 or 2004) is an American activist and Green Party national co-chair who ran,[1] unsuccessfully, for Texas House in 2025.[2][3] He is currently a student at the University of Texas at Austin,[4] where he has played a central role in organizing protests focused on campus speech, the Israel-Palestine conflict, and residency protections of international students, following a Trump administration crackdown.
Papari has been recognized by regional media, including The Texas Tribune, The Statesman, and Daily Texan as a significant voice for Gen Z voters and their evolving role in Texas politics.[5] His transition into formal politics was driven by his visibility as a spokesperson for Gen Z, supporting Harris in 2024.[6] Papari's public profile grew as he advocated for a reform of campus speech protections and against the university administration.[7][8]
In 2025, Papari contested the election for Texas House District 49 as a Green Party candidate[9]. Papari is a socialist.[10] His platform included proposals for climate-related policy and economic reforms targeting Austin's urban code.[11] According to filings from Transparency USA, his campaign was characterized by a reliance on individual, small-dollar donations.[12] The campaign ended in a loss, and, since the election, Papari has continued his enrollment and remained involved in local advocacy.
