ArtRabbit is a digital platform, user network, newsletter service and mobile app for international Contemporary art discovery.[1] It consists of user-generated content that catalogues contemporary art exhibitions from around the world on its website and mobile app.[2][3]

History[edit]

ArtRabbit was founded in 2006 by Tom Elsner and Simon Piehl in London, United Kingdom, founders of digital design consultancy Bureau for Visual Affairs. Their clients included National Gallery, Whitechapel Gallery, Art Angel and Tate.[3]

In 2014, ArtRabbit expanded to cover contemporary art events worldwide[4] and organised an Art Trail in London with 20 exhibitions, live music and art talks.[5] In 2016, the ArtRabbit mobile app was launched for Android and iPhone.[4] In 2018, ArtRabbit created an interactive art map for several cities across the United Kingdom. It was published along with their Art Freshers’ Guide Web Book, featuring “art trails” around areas in London and other cities.[6]

The organisation is currently run by Elsner as director, Igor Clark as creative tech director and Vivi Kallinikou as Editor-in-Chief.[6][7]

Platforms[edit]

ArtRabbit's platforms include its website with art event listings and written features, mobile app, weekly email newsletters, and its social media channels.[7][8] The newsletters currently cover London, United Kingdom, Berlin and New York.[4] Artists and writers who have contributed to written features on ArtRabbit include Tara Aghdashloo, artists Molly Soda, Robert Montgomery, Duda Bebek, Andrew Salgado, Basim Magdy, and Konrad Wyrebek.

Reception[edit]

In 2017, ArtRabbit was shortlisted for the Apollo Digital Innovation of the Year.[2]
