The World Theatre Festival Art Carnumtum (German: Art Carnuntum Welttheater Festival[1]) is an international theatre Festival whicht takes plase in Austria. It is held each year in the ancient amphitheatre of Petronell- Carnuntum. The aims of Art Carnuntum is to support the cultural and philosophical heritage of Europe and promotes classical drama in both traditional and contemporary styles.[2] The festival was founded around 1988[1] by the Italian artist Piero Bordin,[2] who died in March 2021. Since 2021 the philosopher Constantina Bordin is the new artistic director.[3] According to media reports Constantina Bordin is the youngest artistic theatrefestival director of Europe.[1]
With its top-class guests and collaborators from all over the world, include Irini Pappas, Ellen Stewart, Michalis Cacoyannis, Peter Brook, Robert Wilson and Theodoros Terzopoulus, the Art Carnuntum festival has become known as an international centre for ancient drama as well as European classical and modern music.[1]
The festival was held in August in 2021.[1]
2023 Constantina Bordin was invited by the international Symposion of the European Cultural Centre of Delphi as the youngest artistic director of Europe to present her theatreestival and the program she elaborated for 2023.[2]
