Art of Problem Solving (Sometimes Stylized as AoPS) is an company that provides educational resources and programs for students interested in mathematics and problem-solving. The company was founded in 1993 by Richard Rusczyk, who was a math Olympiad winner and a former Math Olympiad coach. The Art of Problem Solving offers a wide range of products such as textbooks, online classes, and competitions for students from elementary school to high school. [1]The company's goal is to help students develop problem-solving skills and a passion for mathematics through challenging and engaging activities. The Art of Problem Solving has a strong reputation in the math education community and has helped many students achieve success in math competitions and beyond.[2]

In 2020, Mathcounts was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In its stead, Art of Problem Solving hosted the online Mathcounts Week.[3] Art of Problem Solving also hosted the second round of the American Invitational Mathematics Examination as the American Online Invitational Mathematics Examination.[4] Art of Problem Solving also hosted the American Mathematics Competitions in 2021 and 2022.

AoPS Textbooks[edit]

The Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) textbooks are a series of mathematics textbooks that cover a wide range of topics, from algebra to geometry to number theory to combinatorics and much much more. The AoPS textbooks break down specific areas of mathematics and provide students with a thorough understanding of the concepts.

The AoPS textbooks are designed to be used by students in grades 6-10, but they can also be used by students of all ages who are looking to challenge themselves and learn more about mathematics. The textbooks are written in a clear and concise style, and they include many worked-out examples and exercises to help students practice their problem-solving skills.[5]

The Art of Problem Solving website hosts online math courses.[7] Sets of problems are included which is for homework. The website also hosts a large number of forums, where users can post math problems and play math & strategy games. The Art of Problem Solving wiki contains numerous formulas and additional information. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the website additionally began hosting several math and science competitions. These include the American Mathematics Competitions, American Invitational Mathematics Examination, United States of America Mathematical Olympiad, the Putnam Competition, F=ma examination, USA Biolympiad, and Mathcounts.

Beast Academy[edit]

Beast Academy is a mathematics program designed for children in first to fifth grades. The program includes a comprehensive curriculum that is loosely based on common core standards and is intended to be challenging. Each level of the program comprises eight books, including four guide books that are presented as comics, engaging children in solving math problems in an enjoyable manner. Additionally, there are four practice books where students can apply the skills they have learned. Beast Academy follows the story of four little monsters - Alex, Grogg, Lizzie, and Winnie - who attend a school named Beast Academy and pose questions about math problems. The entire series consists of 40 books. Beast Academy Online offers more practice problems for students and access to the complete series. [8]

Art of Problem Solving Academy was founded in 2016 by Richard Rusczyk, David Patrick and Sandor Lehoczky. All three were former employees of Art of Problem Solving (AoPS), an online learning platform for advanced math and science. The founders recognized the need for a more comprehensive approach to education for high-achieving students, and founded AoPS Academy to meet that need.[9]

AoPS Academy offers a variety of courses in math and language arts for students in grades 2-12. The courses are designed to be challenging and engaging, with a focus on critical thinking and problem-solving skills. There are currently twelve locations, which are situate in the East and West Coast. Some of the courses offered include:
