Arthur Lee Knight
Arthur Lee Knight[1] (1852 - 7 July 1944) was a popular author of adventure books in the late 19th and early 20th century. His birth was registered in St. Thomas, Devon in 1852. His father was the Rev. T. H. Knight. He became a midshipman on HMS Forte[2] around 1868 and served in the East Indies station under Admiral Sir Leopold G. Heath. He had left the navy by 1886 when he began his writing career with "The Cruise of the Theseus".
His writing was strongly influenced by the time he spent in the Royal Navy where he was engaged in suppressing the Arab slave trade in the Indian Ocean.
