Arthur Woods is an American entrepreneur, investor, author, and LGBTQ+ community builder. He is a co-founder of the HR-technology firms Imperative and Mathison and the nonprofit network Out in Tech, and a co-founder of the venture studio 1080 Ventures. He chairs a Miami group for the UHNWI peer network TIGER 21 and is the author of Hiring for Diversity (2021). Woods has delivered three TEDx talks and was named to the 2018 Forbes 30 Under 30 list in Social Entrepreneurs.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Early life and education

Woods studied at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business (B’10).[7]

Career

After university, Woods worked at Google where he led operations for YouTube’s Education team and oversaw YouTube for Schools.[8][9]

In 2014 he co-founded Imperative, a platform for purpose-driven peer coaching; the company was acquired by the employee-development platform Chronus in June 2024.[10][11]

Woods also co-founded Mathison, a diversity-hiring software company; changeforce announced the acquisition of Mathison on May 13, 2024, with Woods continuing in an advisory capacity.[12][13][14]

In 2013, Woods co-founded Out in Tech, an LGBTQ+ technology community which by 2025 reported over 70,000 members and more than 40 chapters globally.[15][16] He later co-founded 1080 Ventures, described by Georgetown Alumni as a “modern venture studio that launches AI companies.”[17]

TIGER 21

Woods serves as Chair of TIGER 21, a global community of ultra-high- net-worth entrepreneurs, investors, and executives.[18]

Woods has delivered three TEDx talks, including “Work — re-imagined” (TEDxSquareMile, 2014) and “What if we all had superpowers?” (TEDxAruba, 2016).[19][20]

Personal life

On August 11, 2025, Woods became engaged to Jason Ve during Katy Perry’s Lifetimes Tour stop at Madison Square Garden in New York City; Perry invited the couple onstage for the proposal.[21][22]
