From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Raphael Dabenjay is a primitive Neo-Expressionist painter who has been creating artworks since the 1990s. He is known for his chaotic primitive style and inspirational, often challenging work. .

Who is Raphael Dabenjay? Raphael Dabenjay first attracted attention as a graffiti artist under the name "Nero" in Greater Manchester in the late 1980s. He was part of a break dancing crew who were ground breaking in South Manchester’s dance scene. Dancing in local venues mostly at Mersey Lights in Didsbury. Being heavily involved in Street Culture Raphael quickly got into graffiti and tagged most of south Manchester. Due to the drug culture that was prolific, many of his friends passed away either through overdose or violence, with few surviving.

Early Life Raphael was born in Moss Side, in the late 1960s. His father and mother, as well as his sister, are proudly working class and always encouraged his love of art and encouraged him to paint.

A self-taught artist, he did an A level in fine art but found the discipline too restrictive. Raphael began drawing at an early age and journeyed deeper into his creative side; his wife strongly encouraged him to pursue his artistic talents.

Paintings Raphael is a prolific artist but rarely displays and thus far has refused to sell his work. However, he is generous and freely gives his works away to those around his life.

Raphael was due to do a landmark exhibition in Lancashire in 2020 but due to COVID-19 has postponed it until 2021, where it will be held in Didsbury, Manchester, with rumors that several pieces will be available for purchase.

This reclusive experimental artist is releasing an emerging art form that challenges the narratives in UK culture and politics. Raphael targets the global elites’ messaging with an art form that aims to lift the masses up and challenge the inequality that plagues our global village. His style could be described as primitive Neo-Expressionism, but Raphael describes it as art that questions.
