As December Falls are an independent Nottingham based pop punk trio formed in 2014. The band consists of Bethany Hunter Jiménez (vocals), Ande Hunter Jiménez (lead guitar) and Timmy Francis (bass).They have released three albums, one of which (Join The Club) breaking the top 20 in the UK Albums Chart in 2023.[1]
They share heavy influence from bands such as Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Panic! At The Disco and Against The Current (band).[2]
History
2014–2016: Formation, early years, and When You Figure Out You’re Wrong, Come Back To Me
The band was originally formed in December 2014 when bassist Timmy Francis reached out to other local musicians starting with Bethany, whom was contacted via Facebook, and asked if she wished to audition for the band.[3] They met together for the first time in 2014 at the studio to record their first EP, A Home Inside Your Head.
In 2016, the band released their second EP When You Figure Out You're Wrong, Get Back To Me, which was crowdfunded by their fans in under 48 hours.[4] They followed the release up with a short UK tour in March 2016.[5]
2019–2022: Self-titled album, and Happier
In 2019, they released their debut self-titled album, As December Falls, and during the development of said album the laptop that held the files for their demos was stolen, resulting in the band having to re-record all of the music.[6] They followed this up in 2021 with their second full-length album Happier.[7]
2023–present: Download Festival, and Join the Club
The band started 2023 strong as they were awarded the "Best Breakthrough Band" at the Heavy Music Awards[8] and followed the award up in June by making their first Download Festival appearance on the Avalanche Stage.[9] The band then released their third album Join the Club, which peaked at number 11 on the UK's Official Albums Chart.[10]
