She is a member of the South Korean girl group Babymonster under YG Entertainment. Asa is recognized as one of the first Japanese female artists to debut under the agency, alongside fellow member Ruka.[1]

Early life

Enami Asa was born on April 17, 2006, in Tokyo, Japan.[2] She began her artistic journey at a young age, performing in musical theater, including the LADYBIRD Green Musical in 2017. Before moving to South Korea, she attended a dance school in Japan, specializing in hip-hop dance since the second grade.[3]

Career

2018–2023: Pre-debut training

Asa joined YG Entertainment as a trainee in 2018 after passing a global audition in Japan.[2] She was officially introduced as a member of BABYMONSTER in early 2023 through the group's reality survival show, Last Evaluation. During the show, she received praise for her technical rapping speed and her ability to compose music, earning the nickname "all-rounder" from producers.[4]

2024–present: Debut and creative contributions

Asa officially debuted with BABYMONSTER on April 1, 2024, with the EP Babymons7er. She has since participated in the group's first studio album, Drip (2024). Asa is noted for her active involvement in the group's creative process, earning credits as both a lyricist and composer for several tracks, including their debut single "Batter Up".[5]
