Ashan Sasika Kumar Fernando (Sinhala: අශාන් සසික කුමාර් ප්රනාන්දු), (born 20 October 1992) is a famous Sri Lankan Music Singer, Composer & Audio engineer. He has done various types of songs and contributed to many others. He is currently contributing and composing songs and melodies for Sri Lankan main stream TV Channels such as Hiru TV[1], TV Derana,[2] Sirasa TV[3], and Swarnavahini.
Early life
Ashan Fernando was born on 20 October 1992 in Moratuwa. He has two brothers. Ashan Fernando was first educated at Weera Puran Appu Vidyalaya, Moratuwa, and he did his secondary education at Prince of Wales' College, Moratuwa[4].
Music Career
Ashan Fernando once said that he wanted to become a music composer instead of a singer since childhood.[5] In his previous days, he composed many songs for Sri Lankan artists such as Roshan Fernando, Amal Perera, and Dimanka Wellalage.[6] "Mata Aithi Wela"[7] was the first song he composed to become a top hit in 2012. The first song he voiced and composed was "Heena Kandana Adare" [8], which was written by Dilan Gamage[9]. In almost every interview available on the internet about Ashan Fernando, he always speaks highly of Dilan Gamage. According to Ashan Fernando, Dilan Gamage was the one who identified his talents and showed him the correct path to follow. He became the man he is today thanks to Dilan Gamage. "Man Pathanawa"[10] was the song that made him an overnight sensation, currently sitting at over 9 million views on YouTube. It was his second song that he voiced and composed, and it was also written by Dilan Gamage.[11] In one of his interviews with Sirasa TV, he answered an interviewer saying that "Man Pathanawa[12] was composed and voiced within a one-day period at his house, which was his studio at that time, and released the next day. After a few days of releasing this song, he said that he received many responses through social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Within one week of its release, he was fully booked for musical shows. After this song, he has done many hit songs as well. Some of them are "Lassana Hithak" [13] (6 million+ views on Youtube), "Daiwaye Theeranayak"[14] (2.8 million+ views on Youtube), "Mama Nathidaka"[15] (3.3 million+ views on Youtube), "Mathak Wenawa"[16] (1.8 million+ views on Youtube), and there are more on Youtube and spotify.
Ashan Fernando has worked with several Sri Lankan mainstream media channels. He worked with Hiru TV to produce the theme song for "Sihina Genena Kumariye"[17], "Ralla Weralata Adarei"[18], "Ahas Maliga Teledrama[19]", "Adara Mayawa Teledrama"[20], "Heenayakda Me Teledrama"[21]. The theme songs of "Swapna Teledrama"[22] and "Me Adarayai Teledrama"[23], which were the biggest hits at that time on Sirasa TV, were also composed by Ashan Fernando. "Googly Teledrama"[24] theme song was one of his latest composed songs for Swarnawahini TV.
