Asher Maizels[edit]
Asher Maizels is a Canadian-Israeli philosopher, social and religious critic and YouTuber. He is best known for his critiques on religious leaders, religious institutions, and other academics, as well as his philosophical theory on religious conversions known as Non-Conversion Theory. Non-Conversion Theory posits that most if not all religious conversions are not based in a change of faith but rather made in accordance with value-based decision making, subject to the desires of the individual vis-a-vis "the four motivations"; Status, Salvation, Power and Prosperity. Maizels claims that the only other possibility for a conversion is the search for truth but that the search for truth is in most cases subverted by the other motives.
