Early life Ashim Kumar Sarmah (In Assamese "অসীম কুমাৰ শৰ্মা) is born in 27th December 1981 at Tamuli Gaon, District- Jorhat, State-Assam, India. He is from a middle cast "Brahmin" (Assamese) family whose father is a school teacher and mother is a housewife.

Education Since childhood, he is good in the academic field and passed HSLC (Class-XII) from renowned "Jagannath Barooah College", Jorhat in "Science" stream in the year 1999. After that, he completed his "Bachelor of Engineering" (BE) from Jorhat Engineering College, Jorhat (Assam) in "Electrical Engineering" and then "Master of Business Administration" (MBA) from "Don Bosco University", Guwahati. Presently he is doing PhD in "Management".

Career He is presently working at "North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited" (NEEPCO) as a Senior Manager (E/M). Before joining in NEEPCO, he is having experience in different organizations like PEPSI, Deejay System & Consultants Pvt. Ltd., Nagaon Paper Mill (HPCL) etc.

Specialized He has a vast knowledge of O&M of hydropower stations in North-East, India, High voltage switch-yard, and a little exposure to the communication sector.

Achievement He is also engaged in different research activities and published many articles in journals & books. He also presented many papers in different national & international seminars. In addition, he has provided technical lecturers on different platforms. He is also a member of many technical committees and groups.
