Early Life

Ashish is the founder of The Wine Company, Antares Restaurant & Beachclub in Goa, WhiskySamba and Café Mez along with the erstwhile DimsumBros. With each of his ventures, Ashish has conceptualized niche, trendy spaces that have fulfilled a demand for global flavours and chic spaces in the overcrowded F&B landscape. While The Wine Company in Gurgaon’s popular Cyberhub was one of the first few wine-focused restaurants in the country, Antares in Goa introduced Indian palates to modern Australian cuisine popularized by the Masterchef series. Ashish’s collaboration with Celebrity chef and Australian model Sarah Todd, to open “Antares”, an avant-garde restaurant and beach club in Goa has been very well received. The bar has been a constant on the must-do lists for Goa since its inception.
Career

While WhiskySamba has been touted as one of the country’s finest restaurants, the bar menu boasts of one of the most extensive whisky and bourbon inventories in India, stocking close to 200 varieties of whisky from around the world. Ashish’s new venture is to make WhiskySamba India’s first bar on the digital metaverse! Café Mez marked his foray into the upscale casual Café space with a Middle Eastern and Mediterranean menu designed by Chef Megha Kohli. Ashish’s new hospitality ventures include a new French boutique hotel with a Café & Wine Bar in the posh district of Assagaon in Goa, a new beachclub and resort in South Goa and expanding WhiskySamba to Hyderabad. Ashish pioneered the chain fast food business by founding Yo! China, India’s first and largest chain of Chinese restaurants. Yo! China operates in 51 outlets across 14 cities.
For his achievement in creating many best-in-class restaurant brands which offer an international experience, Ashish has been awarded various accolades like: Business Week – “Asia’s Best Young Entrepreneurs”, ‘Best F&B Retailer - Images Golden Spoon Award’; ‘Federation of Hotels & Restaurant Association of India - Young Restaurant Entrepreneur of the Year’, ‘India Today – Young Achiever’, ‘CNBC – Young Turks’, Restauranteur of the Year’ ‘Times of India. Many of his bars and restaurants have been recognized as the finest by GQ, CondeNast, Cosmopolitan Magazine, and Architectural Digest, among others. He has been widely credited for collaborating with international talent. A Youtube sensation, Ashish recently launched VinoTribe, a Youtube channel.
Personal Life
Ashish pursued a degree in electronics and telecom engineering from the prestigious McGill University in Canada, where he was a recipient of the Scarlet Key leadership award at the university, and was then selected to work with GE Capital as a part of their Financial Management Program.
He is also a sought-after speaker in various industry forums like FICCI, TiE, IRF, Franchise Association of India and at leadership seminars organized by leading international MBA schools like INSEAD. Ashish has been an advocate of sustainable water management and sits on the Advisory Board of Gurujal, Haryana’s apex water foundation.
