Ashley Brasier is an investor and entrepreneur at Lightspeed Venture Partners. As the daughter of an architect, she has a keen interest in building things. Her primary focus is on prototyping: as she describes, “Prototyping is a key tool in the entrepreneur’s toolkit, as it enables you to fail fast and iterate faster.”

Education

Ashley attended Duke University from 2008 – 2011, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Visual and Media Studies, and a Certificate in Markets and Management.

While at Duke University, Ashley was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Additionally, she was recognized as Chief Student Marshal for Class of 2012; Dean’s List with Distinctions; and was a Benenson Awards in the Arts recipient for the Danish Institute Study Abroad[CW1] program. Ashley participated in Duke Engage Dublin and the Career Discovery Program at Harvard Graduate School of Design.

In 2018, Ashley graduated with her MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business.

During graduate school, Ashley participated in the Stanford-Tsinghua Exchange and the Global Seminar and Global Management Immersion Experience. She was an MBA Intern at Carlsberg Vietnam Brewery Ltd. She was also the Vice President of the Arts, Media, and Entertainment Club and a member of the Women in Management Club.

Career

Ashley started her career following undergraduate school at Bain & Company, where she held a position as Senior Associate Consultant (starting as Associate Consultant Intern). She was one of the founding members of the Washington, DC office. Ashley moved away from operational work in 2015, leaving Bain & Company to join the product team at Thumbtack, located in San Francisco. Starting as Category Management Extern, she eventually worked her way up to Category Manager.

During her three years at Thumbtack, Ashley managed customer growth and experience for the second-largest business unit, Events and Weddings. She successfully launched 130+ new service categories and co-led the design team to building 500+ new content pages. Her experience working at Thumbtack introduced Ashley to the world of venture capital.

In 2016, Ashley left Thumbtack to pursue her MBA. While a student at Stanford, she started her first consulting business. She consulted for Strategy and Operations for Norn; Pro Marketing for Thumbtack; Growth for Fundbox; and, SMB Sales for BetterUp. Ashley graduated from Stanford in 2018.

Ashley recently joined the team at Lightspeed Venture Partners (2018) and currently serves as a member of the consumer investing team specializing in working with early-stage companies to develop and execute their growth strategies.

Her academic and career experience has brought a keen appreciation for the importance of supporting and investing in women founders. This focus on greater diversity and representation within the venture capital industry has fueled much of her professional growth. Ashley is an active member of The Assembly, a women's club based in San Francisco that focuses on bringing women together to support active learning and professional development.
