Ashley Ultra (born Emily Morgan Coulter on July 5, 1995) is a Kansas City-based club performance artist, musician, and self-proclaimed pop star prototype. She has also been known by the names Emily Violet and Emily Rosenberg. Ultra's career in the local underground music scene began around 2015, focusing on alternative psychedelic electro pop that incorporates themes of divine magic, love, spirituality, and ethereal femininity, with references to poetic or biblical sources such as the "song of songs." Her music features swirling synths and introspective lyrics. She performed at various venues and events, including venues such as the Riot Room, The Sandbox on May 8, 2015; The Crying Party ("My cri clahst") on October 8, 2015; The KC House on December 9, 2017, alongside Killus, Vicious Circle, and Starsurfer; The Brick on June 2, 2018, with Unicorns in the Snow and Mint Hill Music; and the hyperpop party SUGAR RUSH on March 25, 2022, featuring austnaustn at a private location. She gained a following in Kansas City club circuits, including at The Riot Room, for her hypnotic stage presence and innovative sound. Ultra took a hiatus from live performances around 2024-2025, amid reports of mental outbursts.
