Ashlyn Horton

Ashlyn Horton (born 19 September 2003) is an Australian student currently serving as the 39th President of the National Union of Students (NUS) for 2025.[1] A student of the Australian National University, Horton is a member of the "NLS" Faction; the student wing of Labor Left.

She has been an outspoken critic of former Opposition Leader Peter Dutton and has championed several student issues during her term including spearheading the NUS's Campaign to "Put the Liberals Last" at the 2025 Australian Federal Election.[2]

She is also a member of the Federal Higher Education Standards Panel having been appointed by Education Minister Jason Clare[3]

Early Life and Education

Born in Nundah in Brisbane’s North in 2003, Horton is an alumnus of Loreto Normanhurst where she engaged heavily in the JPIC group[4]

She is currently studying a Bachelor of Science (Mathematics) and a Bachelor of International Relations at the ANU.[1]
