Ashok Shrivastav

Ashok Shrivastav is an Indian journalist, author and media personality. He is the senior nost Anchor and Executive Editor of DD News. He hosts the channel’s prime time show Do Took at 9pm from Monday to Saturday.

He was awarded from the hands of Bharat Ratna Holder Bhupen Hazarika and former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Ashok joined Doordarshan. in 2002 and began achoring a popular news show of the time- Aankhon Dekhi for three years.

Early life and education

Shrivastav hails from Banaras, Uttar Pradesh. Though he was born in Uttar Pradesh, his father settled in Mumbai and worked in the film industry to earn a living. He obtained his high school education in Delhi and enrolled in Kirodimal college, University of Delhi. He began freelancing in both photography and writing in his early college days.

Career

Owing to his exceptional command over Hindi, Shrivstav came to be noticed by Arun Showvik, a columnnist, and he got a chance to host a news show. He joined the channel and started anchoring Aankhon Dekhi under supervision of Nandini Singh. Later on he became the executive editor of the channel. He happens to be one amongst the fewest journalists in the country to cover the official visit to the USA by all three recent Prime Ministers namely Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Dr Manmohan Singh and Narendra Modi.

Awards

He received the best reporter of Doordarshan award in year 2003. In years 2005 and 2006 he won the best anchor award. Inyear 2005, Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika conferred the award to a young Ashok.
