Asia Jackson (born May 25, 1994) is an American actress, model, and Internet personality based in Los Angeles, CA. She is of African-American and Filipino descent.[1][2][3]
Early life[edit]
Asia Jackson was born in Moreno Valley, California in 1994 to an African-American father and Filipino mother. As an Air Force Military Brat , Asia moved from California to Mississippi when she was just two weeks old.[4] Since then, she'd moved nine times around the world by the time she was eleven years old. Besides California and Mississippi, she's lived in Colorado, Washington D.C. Montana, Texas, and spent two years of her elementary studies in Tokyo, Japan as well as Baguio City, Philippines.[5][6]
Asia attended Woodrow Wilson Classical High School in Long Beach, California where she was the captain for her school's dance/drill team.[5]
She discovered her passion for modeling and acting while attending college for computer science.[4] In addition to working in entertainment and the digital space, she is also passionate about visibility & representation in media, girls in S.T.E.M., and education.[4][7][8][6]
Career[edit]
Soon after Asia started taking classes for acting, she booked a role on ABC's Modern Family.[6] What followed were a series of roles on other television shows and networks including CBS's The Young and the Restless, NBC's Superstore and ABC's Speechless.[4] Using her Twitter platform, she encouraged tan, brown, and dark-skinned followers to post selfies with the hashtag #MagandangMorenx.[9]
