History[edit]
Asian American Literature Fans, an electronic journal, was “born-digital" in 2006. AALF uses “maximal ideological inclusiveness"[1] to define Asian American literature. The founder is Dr. Stephen Hong Sohn, who is specialized in Asian American literature.[2][3][4]
Features[edit]
It reviews works in the English language by writers of Asian descent and titles related to Asian American contexts without regard to authorial descent as well. It covers titles in translation pending their relationship to America, too. Since 2006, it has carried more than a thousand book reviews,[5] making a tremendous, meaningful contribution to Asian American literature community. A feed of the reviews appears on the Asian American Literary Review's website.[6]
The AALF site is one of the most comprehensive open access locations carrying reviews of Asian American literature. Asian American Literature Fans can also be found on other social networking sites, such as Goodreads,[7] LibraryThing, Facebook, and Twitter.
Contributors[edit]
AALF is maintained by a number of professional academics and scholars in Asian American literature, including Paul Lai,[8][9][10] the social media liaison, expert, and active reviewer. Current and previous reviewers include Stephen Hong Sohn,[11] the University of California at Riverside, Sue J. Kim,[12][13] Professor, the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Jennifer Ann Ho,[14] Professor, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Betsy Huang,[15] Associate Professor, Clark University, Nadeen Kharputly, PhD Candidate, the University of California, San Diego, Annabeth Leow, Coterminal MA Student, Stanford University.
