Asifcroco is an extinct genus of crocodylian from the Crocodylidae that was found in the Oligocene Chitarwata Formation of Pakistan. The type, and only known, species is Asifcroco retrai, named and described in 2014.[1]
Discovery and naming[edit]
The holotype, which consists of a partial right maxilla, vertebrae, armour plates, a proximal ulna, a proximal humerus, unidentifiable bone fragments, and a referred egg, were discovered by M. Asif Malkani in the Chitarwata Formation in Pakistan.[citation needed]
Asifcroco retrai was named and described by Malkani (2014).[1]
Description[edit]
Asifcroco differs from other crocodylids on the basis of large and thick oval alveoli with pneumatically enlarged fenestrae, and a thick and large maxillary ramus.[1]
