From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Asithandile Zozo (born 17 August 2001) was a South African gender-based violence victim.[1] She was killed by her then-ex-boyfriend, Viwe Rulumeni, after she ended the relationship.[2]

Early life

Asithandile Zozo was born in Dutywa, Eastern Cape province of South Africa. She was the child of Mlungisi Zozo, a school principal from Zwelidumile High School in the same town. At the time of her murder, Zozo was a student of Bachelor of Science at the University of the Witwatersrand, in Johannesburg, Gauteng.[3]

Murder

Viwe Rulumeni admitted to choking and stabbing Zozo to death.[4] It was reported that he did this in front of several people including Zozo's siblings, on 17 August 2020 in Butterworth, South Africa.[5] This was after Zozo ended their relationship and ignored his calls and attempts to talk to her.[4] After stabbing her, Rulumeni drank poison to commit suicide, but recovered at the local hospital.[6] On 22 June 2021, Butterworth Regional Court found Rulumeni guilty of murder and sentenced him to 20 years in prison.[7][8][9][10]
