Asr-e Evaz (Persian: عصر اوز‎ lit. "Evaz Times") is the sole general newspaper of the city of Evaz, in Fars Province, Iran.

History

It launched on January 20, 2001 for the first time as a "two-sheet supplement" to the folded newspaper Asr-e-Mardom (Persian for: The age of people) that published in the city of Shiraz.

Management

From its foundation to the present, its owner has been Mohammad Asali and its Chief Editor Ahmad Khezri.

The articles are prepared by different committees, such as News, Cultural, Social, Sport, etc. committees.

Structure

Asr e Evaz is a 16-page newspaper. The main page consists of headlines and some advertisements.

Roughly, the first three to five pages are allocated for news. Another page is divided between social, historical, or cultural subjects. It has a page for youth that is named Nasle Pooya (Persian for: active generation, i.e. young generation) for its committee name; and a page for teenagers that has the name: Nimkat (Persian for: bench). A single page that is named Kaate Sheri (Evazi for: the delicious tale), deals with the local Evazi words and proverbs, also a crossword puzzle, whose questions are related to Evazi words and special idioms. The purpose of this page is refreshing the Evazi dialect and making it durable. The Sport page is usually printed on page 15. The last page is devoted to announcements and is a source for the paper's income.

Distribution and price

Asr e Evaz is well distributed in the Larestan region, also in Shiraz, Bandar Abbas, and even Tehran. It also has international delivery and is published every month as PDF format on the web. The web version is free; but the original paper version is IRR 2000 for each newspaper. From its foundation, the price per each issue has changed many times.

Special Supplements

Sometimes, for special purposes, a (usually) two-sheet supplement is added to the original paper. Up to now, three such special supplements have been published. One was a reprint of the first issue; the second was for the anniversary of the 6th year of its publication; and the last was an edition for the funeral of Ayatollah Khomeini.
