Asraful Hoque Sium is a Bangladeshi cardiac surgeon.[1] He received an award for being the youngest resident cardiac surgeon in the history of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Bangladesh.[2]
Education
Asraful completed his MBBS from Bangladesh Medical College in 2005.[3] He completed post-graduate degrees from National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Bangladesh (2016).[4]
Career
Asraful Hoque Sium performed several cases like MIDCAB with EVH, DVR through MICS at an affordable cost for the first time in Bangladesh. He conducted a cardiac surgery on a 12-year-old girl without cutting her breastbone.[5] [6] The cost of the operation was only 5,000 BDT.[7][8] Previously, only National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh (NHFB) had conducted this type of surgeries at a cost of Taka 2-3 lakh.[9] It was a milestone in Asraful's career.[10] [11]
