Assam Education Service
The Assam Education Service is a Government of Assam service under the Department of Education. It is a service under Rules in 1982 as Assam Education Service Rules 1982 published in the Assam Gazette Part 2A,[1][2] vide Assam Rules 6 of 1982. This rule deals with RECRUITMENT AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE OF PERSONS APPOINTED TO THE ASSAM EDUCATION Service on the order of Governor of Assam. The service consists of Class - I Gazetted officer and Class - II service.
Class - I cadres
Director, Additional Director, Joint Director of Public Instruction, Director, Joint Director of Elementary Education for Hills and for Plains Tribal, Director, Joint Director of Adult Education, Principal, Vice-Principal, Professor, Reader, Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Government Degree Colleges, Principal Science College, Principal, State Institute of Education, Joint Director, Vocational Education /Director Institute of Science Education, Principal Government Sanskrit College, Principal Hindi Teachers Training College etc.
Class - II cadres
Lecturers of Postgraduate Training Colleges, Lecturers of Government Sanskrit College, Lecturers of Government Law College, Lecturers of State Institute of Education /State Institute of Science Education, Deputy Inspector of Schools /District Social Education Officer.
The appointment is done on recommendation of Assam Public Service Commission to the Government of Assam after clearing the examination process conducted by the ASSAM PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION from time to time. After that, persons’ names are published in the Assam Gazette for direct recruitment and provisions are there for promotion to higher cadre.
