Asam Sahitya Sabha, North America (ASSNA) is a branch of the main and the oldest literary organization (founded in December 1917), the Assam Sahitya Sabha of Assam, India. It is a non-Government, nonprofit, literary organization of Assam. This North American branch was founded in 1982 after approval from the main Assam Sahitya Sabha. Every year since its founding, ASSNA has been publishing a magazine called Luitor Pora Mississippi - LPM (From Luit (alias the Brahmaputra River) to the Mississippi River), although it was called Pravasi in the first two years. Literary compositions, both in English and Assamese language, from the Assamese diaspora living in the US and Canada along with a few articles from reputable authors from Assam are published in the magazine. LPM is also available at the US Library of Congress.
