The Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Washington DC and has 27 regional chapters located worldwide. The organization promotes the professional disciplines of proposal writing and bid management. The APMP has grown its membership from 3,383 in 2011 to over 7,300, as of July 2017. [1]

The Association for Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) aims to be the worldwide authority for professionals in the process of winning business through proposals, bids, capture, business development, tenders, and presentations.[2] The APMP hosts regional and national events, with their largest event being the annual Bid & Proposal Con[3], which was attended by 920 attendees from 22 countries in 2017. Membership subscriptions accounted for 58% of 2015 revenues, which totalled $1.88 million.[4]

The APMP was founded in 1989[5] with the stated mission to promote the professional growth of its members through education, certification and networking. In 2014, the APMP began writing its Body of knowledge, which was later published in 2015. Prior to the publication of the Body of knowledge, the Shipley Capture Guide and Shipley Proposal Guide were the de facto industry standard. However, the Body of knowledge was created to be more "vendor neutral". The APMP UK is the largest chapter outside of the United States. APMP UK was founded in 2001 and has over 1,300 members. 43% of the APMP's members are based outside of the United States.[6]
