astu (Unix)

astu (or astsu) is a fictional POSIX command, used to perform various functions in the Mr. Robot series. The prefix as refers to All Safe Security, the security company Elliot works for, while su is the super-user command.

Usage example

In the pilot episode, the following commands are executed:

$> astu trace -pid 344 -cmd
$> astu -ls ./root/fsociety/ -a
$> astsu -info -backup -short
$> astsu -close port: * -persistent
$> astsu -ifconfig -disable
$> astsu -open port: * -persistent

It can be assumed that the command is part of a set of programs that are statically compiled to avoid corruption of a dynamic library on a compromised system.
