Ateker Trail is a cross-border culture and adventure tourist trail connecting four countries: Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan and Ethiopia. The Ateker Trail was initiated in 2020 with the aim of promoting and developing tourism in the area of the Ateker peoples. The trail is still under development.
Places
The initiative connects the Karamoja region of Uganda, Turkana and West Pokot county of Kenya, Eastern Equatoria state of South Sudan and Southwestern Omo Valley. The majority of inhabitants of this area are people sharing the same Karimojong language. But the trail is not limited to reaching other communities in the area.

Initiatives
There are several events and festivals taking place in the areas of the Ateker Trail which celebrate cultural heritage and peace through unity.
Sports events
The Tour of Karamoja[2] is an annual Gravel cycling event taking place in Uganda's Karamoja, Kenya's West Pokot county and Turkana County. The event aims at positively impacting the image of the Karamoja region and creating opportunities through promoting the region as an Ecotourism destination.
Tourism events
The annual Ateker Caravan[3] was founded in December 2021 by youth from Karamoja aimed at fostering peace through dialogue through a grassroots initiative. The Ateker Caravan takes place in December.
Cultural Festivals
The annual cultural festival Tobong'u Lore[4] takes place between July and December in Lodwar, Turkana county of Kenya. The festival - also known as 'Lake Turkana Cultural Festival' - hosts the various neighbouring tribes and aims at fostering peace, cultural exchange, and tourism. The festival is organised by the county government tourism department.
The annual Marsabit County Lake Turkana Cultural Festival[5] takes place around April at the Western shores of the lake in Loiyangalani. This festival brings together the 14 communities of Marsabit County from the borders of Somalia to the El Molo people at the Southern banks of the lake. The festival is organised by the county government tourism department.
The annual Karamoja Cultural Day[6] celebrates the last living traditional cultures of Uganda and takes place between August and September. The venue rotates annually from district to district within the Karamoja sub-region. The festival is organised by the Karamoja Cultural Association.
