The Atlanta United - Orlando City rivalry is a soccer rivalry in Major League Soccer between Atlanta United FC and Orlando City SC, both located in the Southeastern region of the United States.
History[edit]
While not a traditional MLS rivalry cup, the Atlanta-Orlando rivalry has become a fixture in the league's rivalry showcase, Rivalry Week.[1] Fans of both sides consider this matchup to be their most important matchup, despite other cups existing, such as the Clasico del Sol for Orlando City. Players on both sides have actively added to the growing importance of this matchup between both teams, including Josef Martinez[2][3] and Dom Dwyer's[4] now-infamous posts following two separate meetings between Atlanta and Orlando. This matchup also frequently features tifos between both groups of fans, including inspiration from The Walking Dead (TV series).[5][6][7][8]
